MINISTER of National Housing and Social Amenities, Daniel Garwe and Manicaland Provincial Affairs minister Nokhuthula Matsikenyere are set to grace belated World Habitat Day celebrations being hosted by Destiny of Africa Network (Danet) in Mutare this week.
The United Nations (UN) designated the first Monday of October every year as World Habitat Day.
(Danet) postponed the celebrations, which were slated for Destiny of Lot 1 in Dangamvura, as several government officials were attending the Zanu PF congress in the capital.
The celebrations, which are now set for November 10, 2022, come at a time when Danet, through its contractor Flavio and Alma, have managed to light up the suburb.
Danet chairperson Wilson Masokowere yesterday said preparations to host the day are at an advanced stage.
“Finally, we are going to host the World Habitat day this coming Thursday in Dangamvura, Destiny of Lot 1. We are expecting several government officials, including the minister of Housing Daniel Garwe and Manicaland Provincial Affairs minister Nokhuthula Matsikenyere.
“We are inviting residents in Mutare to come and hear news from their respective ministers, our preparations are at an advanced stage,” Masokowere said.
Director of Flavio and Alma, Itai Dirwai said they were hoping to install electricity on section of the houses in Destiny of Lot 1 by the end of this month.
