Zimbabwe is aiming to recover from a devastating El Niño-induced drought that destroyed most of the maize crop planted during the 2023/24 agricultural season.
According to a letter addressed to Cottco acting chief executive Rockie Mutenha, the trade union is accusing the employer of failing to remit the fees deducted from their salaries.
Cottco chief executive officer Roki Mutenha and national police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the development in a joint statement Thursday.
Investigations established that the suspects allegedly proceeded to sell 358 bags at US$2 each to Cottco employees who were not meant to benefit from the scheme.
