Dellstar expresses emotions through music

Dellstar said her commitment and authenticity sets her apart from other musicians.

Dellstar, an 18-year-old contemporary R&B singer, draws inspiration from her love of storytelling and expression of emotions. Born Deltrish Muzvaba, Dellstar’s musical journey has been a whirlwind of experiences and growth, germinating from local talent shows and open mic nights.

“I started off at local talent shows and open mic nights where I honed my craft and gained confidence performing in front of live audiences,” Dellstar said.

“Artists like Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, and Beyoncé are significant influences to my craft as their powerful vocals and emotional delivery have always resonated with me.”

She currently specialises in contemporary R&B and soulful pop, but is interested in exploring collaborations with electronic and dance music in the future.

Dellstar is working on an EP that explores themes of self-discovery and empowerment, featuring a fusion of soulful melodies and modern production.

Dellstar said her commitment and authenticity sets her apart from other musicians.

“I believe my voice carries a unique blend of power and vulnerability, allowing me to convey deep emotions that resonate with listeners on a personal level,” she said.

“I aim to convey messages of resilience, self-empowerment, and vulnerability. I hope listeners take away a sense of strength and connection from my songs, knowing that they’re not alone in their experiences.”

Challenges haven’t stopped Dellstar- from facing rejections to navigating the competitive industry; each obstacle has fuelled her determination and instilled the value of unwavering dedication to her passion.

One performance that stands out is a charity event at the Charles Austin Theatre for Friday Night Live.

The electric energy and palpable audience enthusiasm created an unforgettable experience. The intimate setting fostered a deep connection, and Dellstar felt an incredible sense of camaraderie as she shared her music.

Her dream collaborations include producers like Levels and Samanyanga Sounds and artists like Shenseea, Ammara Brown, and Tammy Moyo.

In the long term, Dellstar aims to establish herself as a respected artist known for creating thought-provoking and emotionally resonant music.

Her vision is to headline her own world tour in five years, continuing to connect with audiences globally through her music. To further hone her craft, she’s currently studying music production.
