A number of learning institutions among them universities have also secured buses from the company.

WVBE managing director Sylvester Matambo said they had to diversifying order to penetrate new markets adding that they are now assembling equipment targeting local authorities and road construction companies.

“We would like to urge local authorities to consider us for their tailor made refuse collection and road construction equipment as they use their 2024 devolution funds wisely,” he said.

“We are here to supply such locally made equipment that will be affordable as there will be no import duty.”

Most local authorities have been importing road machinery that could be manufactured locally.

Some of the local authorities are also hiring equipment and being charged exorbitant prices per hour.
