A WOMAN from Makokoba, Bulawayo, faces trial on a charge of assault after she attacked her drinking mate over an undisclosed dispute.
Abigail Phiri (30) pleaded not guilty to the charge when she appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Maxwell Ncube.
She was granted US$100 bail and will be back in court on April 16 for trial to resume.
The court heard that on March 31, Phiri had a misunderstanding with Nomalanga Ndebele at a local bar at midnight.
The complainant, Emmanuel Nyathi (35), intervened in an attempt to stop the argument.
In the process, Phiri struck Nyathi once on the head with an empty beer bottle. Nyathi sustained a wound as a result of the attack.
A report was made to police, leading Phiri's arrest.
