Why stay aways won’t work in Zimbabwe

Geza had called for Zimbabweans to stay at home and not go to work until Scarfmore relinquishes power.

My Dear People

The failed call for an indefinite national stay away by the former Zanu PF committee member and war veteran Blessed Geza has shown the reluctance by the country’s citizens to be used as pawns in the fight within the ruining party to entrench snouts in the feeding trough.

Geza had called for Zimbabweans to stay at home and not go to work until Scarfmore relinquishes power.

This is as laughable as it is desperate.

The call for the stay away got even more bizarre with the call by Geza for shops to give groceries to customers for free during the stay away adding they will be compensated by what he called “the new government”

What on earth is this Geza chap smoking? Such weird requests by Geza suggests that senility has taken a firm grip in this old man’s dotage.

Calling for an indefinite stay away when more than 60 % of the country’s citizens fend for their families through the informal sector is the definition of lunacy.

The populace, which is already battling entrenched poverty as a result of the woeful incompetence of the Scarfmore lead dispensation of poverty, darkness and confusion, surely cannot afford to sit on their laurels waiting for the Scarfed One to call it a day.

It just goes to show that this lot which grabbed power through the barrel of a gun are just driven by greed for power with absolutely no clue how to govern.

That there is even debate that   the racist Ian Smith regime was  better than this lot tells you all you need to know of the depth of frustration in the country  over the glaring ineptitude of this so called second repubric.

How this country misses the telescopic wisdom of Gushungo.

Munopengaaa!!!

The chaotic  45th Independence Day  celebrations held in Gokwe  mirrored the catastrophic leadership the country is burdened with.

The celebrations were held in deplorable conditions that are just slightly better than a pigsty.

That Local Government minister Daniel Garwe had boasted of having carried out extensive renovations on the area for the day shows why this country has become a banana republic since the propelling of Scarfmore into power through guns and tanks.

The sight of members of the security forces marching through muddy puddles during the celebrations would be comical if it were not so tragic.

Even worse was the independence cup match between last season’s top two teams Simba Bhora and FC Platinum.

The two teams played on a pitch that resembled a potato field.

It was indeed small mercies that the match lasted well under thirty minutes as players could have incurred career ending injuries playing in such hazardous conditions.

To match the grim outlook was the vacuous and delusional speech by the Scarfed One declaring that prosperity is in sight amid gut wrenching poverty, failed currencies, prolonged power outages that have crippled industry, job losses and company closures.

Gushungo would have never allowed celebrations to be reduced to the dog’s breakfast we witnessed in Gokwe.

It seems Health minister Douglas Mombeshora is beginning to slowly emerge from the fantasy world of heli-pads at public health institutions to the sobering reality of the parlous state of the health sector.

He recently revealed that instead of having 44,5 health workers for every population of 600 000 there is only an average of 26.

Mombeshora also availed depressing statistics of a current shortage of 1 500 nurses, which has prompted the decision by the regime to train more doctors and nurses.

However, without improving the working conditions of health workers, the newly trained nurses and doctors will also leave the country in droves creating even more shortages.

Nevertheless, this is a much better solution than the ridiculous one proferred by Generari who proposed that the regime punish the countries which were absorbing the health workers who fled the country for greener pastures.

The Health minister must surely also address the issue of providing basic facilities at the country’s hospitals.

Bandages and painkillers would be a good start.

However, I your good doctor fears that the promises by Mombeshora will come to nought after it is trumped by the regime’s obsession of buying a fleet of the latest range of vehicles for chiefs among other apologists for the cabal.

Munopengaaa!!!

One will be forgiven for dismissing last weeks’  appointment of commissioners of the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commssion as a damp squib.

Since Scarfmore ascended to power amid fumes of gunpowder, corruption has worsened as the horrendous accounts of graft in the auditor general’s report attests year in, year out.

Despite Scarfmore having appointed two anti-graft units including one in his office, the amount of sleaze has actually skyrocketed.

Due to corruption, the country loses a staggering US$1,8 billion every year as revealed  by the prosecutor general Loice Matanda Moyo .

It is laughable that the Zacc boss Michael Reza points to the useless signing of anti-corruption pledges by senior government officials, most of whom I am sure do so absent mindedly, as evidence of the regime’s commitment to fighting graft.

The appointed eight Zacc commissioners will just burden the  country’s citizens, who are taxed to the bone, than help eradicate the scourge of corruption.
