NEWLY-FORMED Division Two side, Super Lions, are leaving no stone unturned in their preparations for their debut in the country’s third-tier league.

The team, which is based in the capital, will play in the Zifa Harare Province Division Two. In the build-up to the start of the league, the team had  preparatory matches to prime them for the new campaign.

Club president Welcome Shumba said the long-term vision is to see the team play in the country’s top flight.

“We have big ambitions as a club. We know we are a new kid on the block, but we are ready to make an impact in Division Two so that we win promotion to the first division.

“We want to eventually play in the premier league and step by step we will get there,” Shumba said.

Coach Prosper Hwande is also confident about his side’s chances in Division Two.

"We have a formidable squad which is a blend of experienced players and youngsters.

"From what I have seen in pre-season where we held our own against Division One sides such as Chegutu Pirates, Shabanie Mine and Chapungu, we will be a force to reckon with this season," Hwande said.

Team captain Admire Masocha also believes the side can gain promotion to Division One at the first time of asking.

"I think we have prepared well and we are thankful to the club’s leadership which has been behind us all the way and given us the resources we need to prepare well for the coming season.

“So I am confident of doing well in the new campaign. We are not there to make up the numbers, but to compete for the title," Masocha said.
