Gweru businesswoman among top 100 African influencers

GWERU businesswoman, Smelly Dube

GWERU businesswoman, Smelly Dube, has been listed among Africa's top 100 most influential people for 2025 alongside prominent figures on the continent such as Nigerian billionaire Aliko Dangote.

She will join other African achievers who will be honoured at the 100 Most Notable Peace Icons Africa 2025 event to be held in Kigali, Rwanda, on July 5.

Other Zimbabweans also receiving accolades include Finance minister, Mthuli Ncube, as well as businessman and gold dealer, Scott Sakupwanya.

On the entertainment side, Nigerian international award-winning reggae musician Burna Boy and Tanzanian musician Diamond Platinumz will also receive awards.

“The awards showcase and celebrate the achievements and contributions of African leaders and businesses to inspire future generations and promote a positive image of Africa globally,” organisers of the event said.

Dube said she was humbled to be honoured among Africa's great personalities.

"I feel humbled to be recognised among Africa's greatest achievers. I owe it to company teamwork as well as the unwavering support from my husband, Mncedisi Dube, who is the chairperson of our group of companies," she said.

A philanthropist and chief executive of land developer, River Valley Properties, Dube has helped orphans, widows, and the less privileged.

She has businesses in mining and land, housing development, among other sectors.
