Securico celebrates 25th anniversary in style

News
Securico was founded 25 years ago on December 1 1998 and has grown in leaps and bounds, achieving milestones that even the founders would not have dreamt of.

One of Zimbabwe’s top security companies, Securico, on Friday celebrated its 25th anniversary at a glittering dinner held amid pomp and fanfare in the capital.

Securico was founded 25 years ago on December 1 1998 and has grown in leaps and bounds, achieving milestones that even the founders would not have dreamt of.

Founder and managing director Divine Simbi-Ndhlukula recalled with nostalgia the path that Securico walked, from birth and attributed the success of the organisation to its belief in its staff and its clients.

“Many have asked “What are the success nuggets?” and my simple answer, always is – the people,” Ndhlukula said.

“Our people have seen progress in their lives as we try to align personal goals with business goals.

“Success in business is about having good people and processes. It is also about having a good brand. I believe we have them all.”

The businesswoman has over the years been recognised through international awards for her outstanding work.

In October this year, she was inducted into the Excellence Hall of Fame by the Business Excellence Institute (BEX) at a ceremony which was held in Dublin, Ireland.

“Many milestones have been recorded in our 25-year history, with trailblazing in ISO certifications, putting together a Wellness Centre for our people, just changing the whole narrative about how the sector had been perceived before,” Ndhlukula said.

Besides the glamour and ceremony, Securico’s grand occasion on Friday also served as testimony of the popularity and inclusivity that Ndhlukula and Securico have over the years earned through sheer hard work and professional diversity.

The guest list included high business and diplomatic offices besides the ordinary employee, client and of course family; all of whom turned up to celebrate Securico’s historic moment.

Diplomats from Canada, Turkey and Malawi also attended the event.

One of Zimbabwe’s celebrated business persons, Phillip Mataranyika was also there along with government officials from various ministries.

Guest of honour was Margaret Hirsch, a business executive and a friend of Ndhlukula’s  from South Africa who travelled with her husband Allan for the event.

Ndhlukula said she never envisaged the company employing over a dozen employees and it was unbelievable that today Securico employed over 4 000 people.

“So everything else that has come on board has been icing and cherries on a well-baked cake,” she said.

“Service excellence has always been the core of our business since inception of the company and is strategically inducted into our staff from the first day.

Securico recently launched an industrial clinic to look after the physical and mental health of workers.
