FOR 25 years, leading security firm, SECURICO Security Services, has been providing unequalled protection to all and sundry.
To celebrate the company’s Silver Jubilee, SECURICO recently partnered 25 primary and secondary schools across Zimbabwe for tree planting activities.
The programme, being implemented in partnership with the Forestry Commission of Zimbabwe, preceded the National Tree Planting Day set for December 1.
The National Tree Planting Day is held annually.SECURICO held the programme under the theme Our Journey, Our People, Delivering Excellence since 1998.
According to SECURICO, planting trees in schools helps instil a conservation ethic in learners while they are still young.
Speaking at the launch of the programme recently, SECURICO founder and managing director Dr Divine Simbi Ndhlukula said the desire to give families a better life drove her to create the business.In Harare, the Silver Jubilee celebrations were held at seven different schools last week, including Mother Touch Group, TynwaldHigh, Eaglesvale, Mbare High, Mufakose High 1 and Chiedza Children Centre.Ndhlukula shared her journey towards the goal to provide excellent security services in Zimbabwe.
“It has not been an easy journey but we are here today solid, strong and still growing. Key stakeholders for us too are the schools we partner to play our part in the community,”.
“Education is our key focus area. Why? Education is a powerful agent of change, because it is the greatest weapon anyone can use to beat poverty.“

We are partnering the schools because we think that these young learners will be better able to carry on our legacy of knowing the need of planting trees.”
She said the SECURICO sustainability plan focused on the environment through planting trees.
“In addition, all trees provide for us in our day to day living. We really need to scale up afforestation and reforestation as it is critical in preserving and enhancing the environment.
They act as carbon sinks, absorbing atmospheric carbon dioxide, which helps mitigate climate change.
“Because both forests and oceans play important roles in regulating our climate, increasing the natural ability of forests and oceans to absorb carbon dioxide can also help to stop global warming.
“Core to all climate change solutions is reducing greenhouse gas emissions, which must get to zero as soon as possible,” Ndhlukula said.
SECURICO started with four people, growing to more than 4 000 workers.“We have grown and managed to get to our Silver Jubilee celebrations.
“As our Silver Jubilee theme says, Our Journey, Our People, Delivering Excellence since 1998, we believe we have a very motivated and highly engaged team from the operative (guard) to the board of directors,” she said.
Ndhlukula has been recognised for her outstanding work with an international award after being inducted into the Excellence Hall of Fame by the Business Excellence Institute during a ceremony held in Dublin, Ireland, recently.
