Mzingwane High ventures into income-generating projects

Mzingwane High head Stanley Tizora said the school operated a fleet of five buses.

MZINGWANE High School says it has moved towards financial sustainability through its school bus hire services to generate revenue.

Mzingwane High head Stanley Tizora said the school operated a fleet of five buses.

“The school operates a fleet of five buses, serving three primary schools and two secondary schools,” he said.

“This extensive network enables the school to provide transportation services to a large number of students, promoting accessibility and inclusivity.

“By managing its own transportation services, the school can optimise routes, schedules and resources to ensure efficient and safe transportation for all students.”

Tizora said the school purchased the buses with the primary objective of reducing costs associated with hiring transport for school activities.

“By owning and operating its own buses, the school aims to generate additional income while providing a convenient and reliable transportation service to students,” he said.

“The benefits of this project are two-fold: The school saves on hiring expenses and earns revenue from transporting students.

“Moreover, the school has full ownership of the bus, allowing for greater control over operations and maintenance.”

Tizora said the school had also diversified its income-generating projects to promote self-sufficiency.

“These projects include a piggery, where pigs are raised for meat production; a poultry farm, which provides eggs and meat; a tuckshop, selling snacks and refreshments to students; a cattle farm, which may also explore dairy production; and a garden, where fruits and vegetables are grown for school consumption,” he said.
