A 25-YEAR-OLD man from Queens Park in Bulawayo has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for attempting to rape a 15-year-old girl on two occasions.

The convict, Givemore Ndlovu, appeared before Bulawayo  magistrate Sibonginkosi Mnkandla facing two counts of attempted rape.

The court was told that last month, Ndlovu tried to rape the juvenile in a nearby bush, and she screamed to alert passersby and he ran away.

The court heard that he accompanied the complainant to the fields, where he attempted to rape her and he was disrupted by the complainant’s younger brother, who had followed them.
