THE Emerald agribusiness workshop is set to return this year with its second edition scheduled for March 15 at Hillside Manor in Bulawayo, following a seven-year hiatus.
Organised by Emerald Agribusiness, the event is aimed at equipping farmers with knowledge on farm production systems.
As a proactive agribusiness based in Bulawayo, Emerald Agribusiness facilitates cross-border agriculture and provides services such as agricultural manuals, market research and analysis, soil testing and interpretation and contract farming.
In an interview with Southern Eye, Emerald Agribusiness chief executive Tapuwa Justice Mashangwa said the event was open to farm owners, farmers, farm managers and stakeholders, including non-governmental organisations and banks.
“We invite all farmers from Matabeleland, the rest of Zimbabwe and beyond, to attend. Many Matabeleland farmers lack access to information and opportunities.
“We aim to empower farmers to better understand production systems and assess the profitability of their farming operations,” he said.
The workshop expects to draw around 300 farmers from Matabeleland and across Zimbabwe, with one farmer from Australia having confirmed attendance.
Mashangwa said the banking community, agrochemical and agro-hardware companies and agro-machinery companies were also expected to attend.
