POLICE in Mberengwa in the Midlands province have launched a manhunt for a 24-year-old man who allegedly stabbed and killed a fellow villager at Rengwe business centre last week.
Ferdinand Dzimba (24) is suspected to have been “settling a score” with the now-deceased Freeman Pazamongo as they had earlier had a misunderstanding over an undisclosed issue.
Provincial police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed that police were investigating the murder case.
“Circumstances are that Pazamongo was in the company of his two friends and it started to rain as they were about to go home. As a result, they sought shelter at Rengwe business centre shop verandahs,” Mahoko said.
“Pazamongo stood about seven metres away from the others and after about 10 metres, he was heard screaming and calling for help.
“Upon reaching where Pazamongo was, his friends realised that he had been stabbed.”
Mahoko said he was lying down bleeding profusely with a deep stab on the chest.
“He was rushed to Mnene Hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.”
