POLICE in the Midlands have launched a manhunt for two teenagers and an unknown suspect who murdered a Mberengwa man in a dispute over stray cattle.
Midlands provincial police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko yesterday confirmed the tragic incident that occurred this Monday.
Mahoko said the deceased Shadrack Ndlovu (32) tried to rescue his elder brother when the suspects Jonathan Sibanda (19), Albert Dube (19) and another unknown man turned on him.
“One Thandolwenkosi Mubheni (41) of Village Magwegwe under Chief Mtevaidze in Mberengwa and his 12-year-old son were penning cattle at their homestead,” Mahoko said.
“Sibanda, Dube and another unknown man passed by (Mubheni's) cattle pen in a scotchcart drinking beer before accusing him of deliberately letting his cattle stray on the road.”
According to Mahoko, Mubheni told the three suspects that the cattle they were referring to belonged to his neighbour and a misunderstanding arose.
Sibanda disembarked from the scotchcart and assaulted Mubheni using switches.
Mahoko said Ndlovu rushed to the scene to rescue Mubheni but the trio turned on him and attacked him with stones, empty beer bottles before stabbing him with a knife all over the body.

He said after the attack the three assailants ran away from the scene leaving Ndlovu lying in a pool of blood.
Ndlovu died on the way to hospital.
