PROLIFIC author and executive team coach Philimon Chitagu has released two inspirational books on thought leadership, bringing the tally of his growing literary portfolio to six.
The latest books, Strategy Execution Readiness and Transformative Leadership, are additions to previous publications Inside the Human Resources Cockpit, The Human Resources Mojo, Leading from the Heart and High Performance Leadership Culture.
The writer has set a target to publish 20 books before year end.
Chitagu told NewsDay Life & Style that after attending the World HRD Congresses in India between 2014 to 2020 as a speaker, he realised that the local market was devoid of critical human resources and leadership books.
Fellow speakers at the congresses, he said, were also writers, and that fuelled his decision.
“I became motivated to make a difference and leave a legacy in the area,” he said, and cited local inspirational authors such as Charles Mugaviri, advocate Caleb Mucheche and Rodgers Matsikidze.
Chitagu, who is Schweppes Zimbabwe (Ltd) human resources director, said the field of human resources in Zimbabwe was evolving and the future would be shaped by digital transformation and human resources technology, strategic human resources and business alignment as well as talent management and skills development.
On how he balanced writing and other responsibilities, the human resources development expert said his secret lay in scheduling.

“Balancing a busy schedule while writing leadership and HR books requires a strategic approach. It is not an easy task. There are strategies one can pursue,” he said, citing prioritising and scheduling writing time, writing in small, consistent bursts and leveraging on weekends and retreats.
Chitagu, whose books can be valuable resources in HR training at institutions of higher learning, said there was need for a well-structured strategy to position the books as valuable academic and professional resources.
These, he said, included aligning the books with academic needs, accreditation and endorsements, building relationships with key stakeholders and offering value-added engagements such as guest lectureships and workshops.
Books on high-performance coaching culture, transformative leadership and strategy execution readiness, Chitagu said, could have a significant impact on readers, particularly professionals, executives and organisations striving for excellence.
“These books would not only provide theoretical insights but also practical tools, case studies and real-world applications,” he said.
Chitagu indicated that the 20 books he targeted to release this year are valuable to stakeholders as they help with knowledge transfer, industry influence, professional legacy, training and development, thought leadership, monetisation and career growth.
