LOCAL artistes will next month take time to remember late musician Sam Mtukudzi.
The artistes will stage a performance at Pakare Paye Arts Centre in Norton on April 5 in honour of Sam, who died 15 years ago on March 15, 2010, in a road accident alongside his friend and sound engineer Owen Chimhare.
Tamy Moyo will headline the event where she will be joined by Agga Nyabinde, Bernard Betera, Jay Watta, Mandava and Donald Kanyuchi.
Also to perform will be Chiedza Chevatendi, Sarungano and Esau and Tatenda Macheso and Macheso Boys.
MC Mighty Kili will dictate proceedings, while DJ Bishop Mockery will rock it on the decks.
Mtukudzi and Chimhare died along the Harare-Bulawayo Highway near Kuwadzana as they were travelling to Norton from the capital. Sam was 22 and Owen was two years older.
Two days earlier on March 13, 2010, Sam had performed what became his last show at the now-defunct Sports Diner in Harare.
At the time of his death, he had recorded and released two albums, Rume Rimwe and Cheziya.
