THE Intwasa Arts Festival koBulawayo has launched an appeal for help to support emerging artists through its "Become a Friend of Intwasa" initiative.

The initiative aims to secure support from 50 dedicated individuals to help to empower emerging artists.

Speaking to NewsDay Life & Style, Intwasa Arts Festival KoBulawayo organiser Raisedon Baya said they wanted to create a small stage where emerging artist could showcase their talents. 

"In the appeal for support, we want to create a small stage and venue specifically to discover and support emerging artists. That is the support we are looking for," Baya said.

"We are also trying to raise funds to support performances by emerging artists during the Intwasa Festival."

He revealed that the artists set to benefit from the initiative included poets, musicians, hip-hop artists and writers, among

others.

Intwasa Arts Festival koBulawayo is a not-for profit arts organisation that creates and provides innovative platforms for diverse cultural and creative

expressions.

Founded in 2004, the festival provides platforms that celebrate the diversity of human creation in the following disciplines: Music, film, spoken word, theatre, dance, literary arts, fashion and crafts.

The festival is hosted in Bulawayo, arguably Zimbabwe’s largest cultural city and hub.

The organisation's programmatic areas include the Intwasa Arts Festival KoBulawayo, the education and skills development, advocacy and engagement and publications.
