DEPORTIVO La Murambinda have made its home ground, Uhera Stadium in Buhera, a fortress after producing a giant-killing act by defeating Eastern Region Division One Football log leaders Tenax 1-0 in Murambinda over the weekend.
Tatenda Mupotaringa scored the all-important goal late in the second half.
Deportivo LA Murambinda is playing in the country's second-tier league for the first time.
Tenax came into the match with only one defeat before suffering a painful loss at the hands of the debutants.
Tenax are topping the log standings with 37 points from 15 games, followed by Hunters, who have 35 points with a game in hand.
Former premiership outfit, Masvingo United, are in third position with 35 points from 15 games, with an inferior goal difference to the latter.
Deportivo La Murambinda assistant coach Ben Chari was excited with the win.
“We are enjoying good football from our team. Since we are the first timers in the league, we managed to end in a good place in the first half of the season,” he said.
The team, during the players' window period, secured seven players, adding a new dimension to the league.
The team is funded by the chief sponsor, Zanu PF Buhera North MP Phillip Guyo.
Guyo is supported by the team's board members Talent Muzivi, Sundire Mhere, Lloyd Mudzimu, Elijah Mawoyo and David Mandeya.
The team recently received football kits from Thorshek Pharmacy and Besa Construction Company.
