STARRING the possibility of missing out on the services of star right-back Andrew Mbeba, Highlanders coach Kelvin Kaindu has raised a red flag on his team’s defending, saying it has been the team’s Achilles’ heel.
Bosso host Caps United at Barbourfields Stadium on Sunday with high hopes of bouncing back to winning ways after two draws against Scottland and Triangle.
Caps United, on the other hand, are in dire straits following consecutive defeats to TelOne and Ngezi Platinum Stars.
Nevertheless, the clash between the two sides remains a high stakes match, especially considering their indifferent fortunes.
And Kaindu is concerned by how his men have conceded in the five games they have played so far.
They have one win, three draws and a loss.
Kaindu expressed his concerns during a Press conference held in Bulawayo yesterday.
“Our draws are not attributed to lack of goals. I think we have done well venturing forward. We have done well in terms of scoring. It’s in only one game that we didn’t score,” Kaindu said.

“We are among the teams that are up there in terms of the goals we have scored. Our biggest inability is in defending our lead if you look at the five goals we conceded.
“It has been because of errors and opponents capitalise. It has been a major concern for all of us and we are working hard. I hope we have ample time to fix that area.”
Kaindu expected Caps United to fight with everything as they seek to make up for disappointment from their last two results.
Caps have already lost three matches so far, only managing to pick up four points from a win and a draw.
“We are playing Caps United. They are giants and they haven’t started well considering the pedigree that they have as Caps United,” Kaindu said.
“They are good going forward in the midfield and their wide players. In the last game, they didn’t do well, but everyone that plays Highlanders raise their game.”
The Zambian gaffer admitted that missing the services of Mbeba would be a massive blow as he has helped spur their forward movements.
“We have almost a full squad apart from Andrew Mbeba, who picked up an injury in the last match against Triangle and we are waiting to get feedback from the doctor.
“He hasn’t been training, but he is feeling slightly better. There is a tremendous improvement. We have to assess him to see if he will be ready for our game,” Kaindu said.
“He has been instrumental in the games that we have played and he is a key player that use in terms of our set pieces.
“His absence cannot be described yet. Like I said, he has done training and we are yet to get feedback.
“The injury is not on the leg, maybe that is only the positive that we have. But we also have to see him. He helps us in terms of venturing forward.”
