Culturally confident Gladys Jakachira has come up with a very innovative way of connecting African cultural diversity through BeingAfrican Book Club.
This is a space where African stories meet real conversations about identity, healing, and heritage. Jakachira, who jointly authored Marriage Vowels with Audrey Vimbai Ndaba, coaches several aspects of culture, leadership and marriage.
Jakachira and Ndaba share the belief that a school-like approach to marriage which is rooted in culture and not just premarital counselling or a weekend seminar, but a holistic, step-by-step journey that prepares the heart first, is essential.
Asked about her working relationship with Ndaba, Jakachira said: "It was a humbling, challenging, and spirit-led journey.
“Audrey brought up the questions young people are often too afraid to ask out loud.
“I brought stories, lived through, endured, and redeemed in real marriages, including my own, as well as those gathered through focus groups and research.
“Together, we brought reflection, prayer, and a deep desire to make this curriculum both spiritually grounded and practical."
