KWEKWE-BASED Grace Abound Church (GAC) last week held its annual Christmas party for the underprivileged where the message of sharing with the needy took centre stage.
More than 200 families benefitted from the Grace Abound Church’s philanthropic arm, which has expedited the facility for the past eight years.
Grace Abound Church has grabbed a lot of media attention over the years, thanks to its General Overseer Effort Vakai Maphosa who has played a pivotal role in his deliverance ministry.
Maphosa, a preacher and self-proclaimed prophet has over the years drawn huge crowds at his church services in Kwekwe, Sanyati, Munyati, Kadoma and Harare following the “healing of mental patients”.
He told Standard Style that Christmas party initiative was aimed at supporting the underprivileged members of the community who might struggle to afford festive essentials.
“We had a wonderful Christmas party for the elderly, disabled and the less priviledged from Kwekwe city surrounding towns and villages,” Maphosa said.
“Over a thousand people were in attendance for the feast and 200 families received Christmas hampers comprising of mealie-meal, cooking oil, sugar, rice, beans, bath soap, washing soap, and salt.
“Also available for distribution was clothes and sanitary wear for women.

Maphosa said the Christmas party’s mission was to mobilise congregants to transform the poor and their communities materially and spiritually for the glory of Jesus Christ.
He said the church’s last calendar event would be the New Year crossover to be held tonight.
“The crossover would be about a word that speaks into the coming New Year,” Maphosa said.
“It will be a night of healing and deliverance and we are saying let’s crossover into the new year without those demonic spirits.”
Maphosa, an accountant by profession, said Grace Abound Church was a faith-based healing institution and philanthropic hub.
“Now that we are coming back from the Covid-19 pandemic, we are hoping to do more crusades and more of God’s work in the next year,” he said.
“Expect a lot of healing and deliverance as well as philanthropic work.”
Maphosa said under the philanthropic hub of the church, four beneficiaries of the church’s scholarship programme graduated at the Midlands State University this year.
“We have a vibrant scholarship programme where assist underprivileged students at tertiary institutions across the country,” he said.
Maphosa, who submitted to the will of God to start the work of the Heavenly Father in April 2015, graduated with a Bachelor of Accountancy degree from the University of Zimbabwe and secured employment with the Zimbabwe Power Company as a systems accountant.
He said the founder of his ministry was Jesus Christ.
