PSL summons Dynamos, Chaminuka

BELEAGUERED local football giants Dynamos FC and their fiery head coach, Saul Chaminuka, have been summoned to appear before the Premier Soccer League (PSL) disciplinary committee.

The summons come in the wake of the dramatic abandonment of their Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match against FC Platinum at Mandava Stadium on Sunday.

The high-profile encounter, which was tied at 1-1 in the 75th minute, descended into chaos after referee Qedisani Dirwai awarded a controversial late penalty to FC Platinum.

Dirwai ruled that Dynamos captain Emmanuel Jalai had fouled Oscar Bhebhe inside the box, a decision that immediately drew fierce protests from the Dynamos contingent and led to a lengthy stoppage.

Dynamos FC now faces charges related to causing the abandonment of a match and ungentlemanly conduct by the team's technical officials, while Chaminuka faces a more extensive list of accusations.

"The Premier Soccer League has summoned Dynamos FC to appear before the PSL Disciplinary Committee following the abandonment of their Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match against FC Platinum played at Mandava Stadium on Sunday, 22 June 2025," the PSL said

"Dynamos FC is being charged with causing the abandonment of a match and ungentlemanly conduct by the team's technical officials. Dynamos FC head coach Saul Chaminuka has also been summoned to appear before the PSL Disciplinary Committee. His charges include disturbing the normal proceedings of a match, causing abandonment, ungentlemanly conduct and issuing reckless statements to the media likely to bring the game, sponsors, the League, Zifa, Caf, or Fifa into disrepute.

"The disciplinary hearings will take place at the PSL offices on Tuesday, 8 July 2025 at 1730hrs," added PSL.

A visibly furious Chaminuka did not mince words in a post-match interview.

"Referees are cheating, and there is no way that we can continue playing week in and week out when they keep giving away matches like that. They are not fair at all. "Coaches are fired because of how they are handling matches, and they just go scot-free. If we had allowed that penalty to be taken, they would have just gone scot-free. At least the match commissioner has something to write about. Let's see what the match commissioner is going to say about this game."

Earlier in the match, Dynamos had taken an early lead in the fourth minute through a Vusa Ngwenya header.

FC Platinum equalised four minutes into the second half, when Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya capitalised on a defensive error by Dynamos captain Shadreck Nyahwa.

Dynamos have been struggling for results this season and find themselves in third from bottom on the log standings with 14 points from 17 matches.

The Glamour Boys have won just two matches this season and have already sacked coach Lloyd Chigowe, who started the season in charge of the team.
