It's a new dawn for Zimbabwean golf ahead of the inaugural tee off of the transformative initiative, Young Investors and Entrepreneurs Golf League (YIEGL)which is set to take place at Chapman Golf Club in a fortnight.
The YIEGL which is part of the broader Zimbabwe Golf Leagues’ initiatives, is more than just a series of competitive rounds but a meticulously crafted crucible designed to blend the timeless discipline of golf with the audacious spirit of entrepreneurial and financial acumen and is set to take place on June 21, 2025.
“For too long, the fairways of opportunity have seemed exclusive to adults, their manicured edges hinting at a world beyond the reach of many young people. Yet, like the baobab tree that stands tall and resilient against the passage of time, enduring and providing sustenance, this league seeks to root itself deeply within our communities, extending its branches of opportunity to every aspiring young mind, regardless of their starting handicap in life. It’s an allegory for life itself, isn't it? The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single, well-struck shot, and the accumulation of wealth and wisdom begins with a single, well-placed investment.” – Zimbabwe Golf Leagues Chairman, Mr Malvin Chidzonga said
“This isn't merely about the swing, the putt, or the coveted birdie. No, this league transcends the traditional confines of sport, blossoming into a vibrant ecosystem where the seeds of financial literacy, entrepreneurial spirit, and ethical business leadership are meticulously sown and nurtured.
“Before they tee off or go onto the driving range, the youngsters will get into the conference room at the golf club and participate in various activities. Several studies and socio-economic circumstances have influenced the need to foster financial literacy, the spirit of entrepreneurship, savings and investments amongst young people. Based on these factors, the Young Investors and Entrepreneurs Golf League will sow the seeds of financial literacy, savings, entrepreneurship, investments, great networking skills through golf, business ownership and management in young people," Chidzonga added.
The main sponsor of the league is Nitvel Capital while Kreston Zimbabwe Chartered Accountants, Wehaco Transport, Brand Embassy, Chasm Resources, Kay Squared Sculptures and other corporates are helping in making the event a reality.
“The major goal of the league is to inculcate the right mindsets, foundations and habits for young people’s financial, investment, entrepreneurial and career success with exciting but practical ways that are handy in the real world from a young age. Some of the practical activities include exchange programs with scholars and young people from other golf clubs, schools and from other countries.
"There will be simulated or imaginary investment participation through various ways, business funding and pitching opportunities, investment and business debates, job shadow programs and opportunities together with fun games but with business and investment themes," Nivteil Capital's Stalin Rinifati said.

“This golf, investment and business blended league is open to participation to young people from the age of five right up to 25 years but with the youngsters further grouped into appropriate age groups for specific activities including golf playing opportunities,” Rinifati added.
The benefits of this ground-breaking league ripple outwards, touching participants, parents, sponsors, and the broader Zimbabwean community like a perfectly executed chip shot landing softly on the green, leaving a lasting impact.
For the Parents, the league offers not just an avenue for their children's physical activity, but a profound investment in their future.
It is a peace of mind knowing that their children are engaged in a wholesome, character-building activity that simultaneously equips them with vital life skills.
"To our esteemed sponsors, the pillars of our community and the visionaries who understand the power of collective upliftment, this league presents an unparalleled opportunity to invest in the very fabric of Zimbabwe's future. This support is not merely a charitable donation; it is a strategic allocation of resources that yields exponential returns in social impact and brand goodwill.
"The establishment of this league is a testament to the power of synergy, a harmonious convergence of multiple stakeholders united by a shared vision. For the golf clubs, it breathes new life into their greens, attracting a younger demographic and securing the future of the sport.
"For local businesses, it creates opportunities for partnerships, merchandise sales, and community engagement. For the broader Zimbabwean economy, it cultivates a new generation of entrepreneurs who will innovate, create jobs, and contribute to national prosperity," Chidzonga said.
Young people can register to be part of the Young Investors and Entrepreneurs Club which seeks to foster financial literacy, the spirit of entrepreneurship, savings and investment in future generations.
