Next year, I will be ready to win the FBC Zim Open: Chinhoi

Sport
Robson Chinhoi

After his best finish at the recently held FBC Zimbabwe Open, Robson Chinhoi tells the Golf Zone that his aim is to become the first Zimbabwean since Mark McNulty in 2000 to win the national tournament.

I played really well. I've driven the ball good the last week, and hit so many greens.

It's only that my putting wasn't, wasn't on point in the final two days. But the first two rounds, yeah, my putting was very good. And, but I'm feeling good.

I'm very much happy with how I played with the, and happy with the outcome. Though that wasn't what I was expecting, but it was not bad. I'm happy with how I finished.

The course was playing good, the course was playing really nice. The fairways (at Royal Harare) are good, the greens are rolling pure, very true.

I think these are the best greens that we get on tour. So, yeah, everyone loves to be at Royal Harare. And for the fans, everyone who worked with us, thank you very much.

And to FBC, thank you very much for the sponsorship and all the partners.

What was your impression in terms of this year's competition?

It was cool. I think this is the best tournament on Sunshine Tour, and the setup here is, is very, is very good.

And people here are more organized than out there. So, I think we like it here. Home is always the best.

And I think the guys who are coming from South Africa and all over the world can testify that in Zimbabwe, we are more organized and we have the best greens on tour and the best people, the best crowd you can get on tour. So yeah, it was good.

What would you say about the long wait for the local winner?

We will! We are starting our preparations for the next one.

We are not going to wait until we get to next year in May. So, I think we'll be ready for next year to keep the trophy at home.

Going forward, what are you looking to achieve this year?

I'm already on tour. I'm looking, trying to get to the European tour and the Asia tour up there.

My main goal is to get to the PGA, but we go step by step. So, where I am right now, I am happy, but by the end of the season, I am expecting to be where the other guys are.

The likes of Kieran Vincent, Scott Vincent, Ben Follett-Smith, yeah, all those Zimbabweans. So, I am looking forward to joining them out there on the main tours.
