Chipezeze back in Warriors fold

Warriors coach Michael Nees

MAGESI FC goalkeeper Elvis Chipezeze has returned to the Warriors fold after being named in the team that will play two friendly matches in Morocco next month.

The 35-year-old goalkeeper has been in scintillating form for the Betway Premiership outfit and appeared to have been overlooked by selectors until yesterday’s call.

He has 10 clean sheets in 25 matches and is one of the favourites to win the PSL Goalkeeper of the Season Award.

In a 23-man squad announced by Warriors coach Michael Nees yesterday, Chipezeze will battle it out with Marumo Gallants’ Washington Arubi and Brentford’s Marley Tavaziva.

Arubi has been the Warriors'  goalkeeper in the Afcon and World Cup qualifiers.

Zimbabwe will lock horns with Burkina Faso on June 6 before taking on Niger four days later.

The two matches will be played in Casablanca, Morocco, and are part of the preparations for the Warriors' next Group J Fifa World Cup qualifiers set for September.

Nees is expected to assemble a strong squad for the World Cup qualifiers as well as the Africa Cup of Nations finals at the end of the year.

Also making a return to the Warriors fold is France-based striker Tino Kadewere, who missed two World Cup qualifiers in March. Belgian-based midfielder Bill Antonio will have another dance with the Warriors after he was selected for the two friendly matches.
