Kaindu wary of WiFi Boys home record

WHILE he is picking positives in his team’s performances, Highlanders coach Kelvin Kaindu has warned his men to expect a completely different challenge from TelOne when the teams take on each other in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match this afternoon.

TelOne are unbeaten and have flawless record at home, with Ngezi Platinum Stars being their latest victim.

All their wins came at home against Triangle, Caps United and Ngezi.

And as Bosso travel to Gweru, for a potential gruelling test, Kaindu is hoping his men build on their resolute performances against the Ngezi platinum miners.

Addressing a Press conference in Bulawayo, the Zambian mentor said his team is on the right track to end their troubles.

“We improved in the last game that we played against Ngezi. As much as we wanted to pick up maximum points, I think we were playing a very organised team and they dominated most of the first half,” Kaindu said.

“They put so much pressure on us and we knew that in Ngezi coming from a defeat at against TelOne, which we are playing this week, they will definitely come with everything that they have and that is exactly what they did.

“But credit goes to our defence with the way that we stood firm and were so good in terms of defending, we never allowed them to them create those chances.

“I think despite them having most of the possession in the first half, we looked organised, we looked strong and we looked stable and for us to have a second game without conceding that these are the positives that we picked from the game, that a victory could have put us in a better position.”

On facing TelOne, who have been spurred on by the free-scoring former Bosso son Washington Navaya, Kaindu said: “At home, they are motivated. They beat Ngezi, the team that we drew against. Quite strong.

“They have a balanced team. Playing at home I think they have been excellent when they play at home.

“They are also scoring goals like us, very good in terms of their flair or their offensiveness when you lose possession.”

He added: “They will catch you on a counter, they are using their two strikers I think to launch most of the attacks and probably one of the strikers is among the leading goal scorers that shows that they are capable of getting goals.”

Navaya is the leading goal scorer in the Premiership, having found the back of the net seven times in seven matches, and three goals ahead of his contender, Isakar Hobasen Gurirab of Simba Bhora.

TelOne have scored 11 goals so far but have allowed in eight while Highlanders have not been so good on the road with just two points away from Barbourfields.
