Ngoni Stadium boost for high-flying MWOS FC

Coach Lloyd Mutasa revealed the secret behind the team's early success in its maiden campaign.

HIGH-FLYING Castle Lager Premier Soccer League pacesetters Mwos FC have received a massive boost ahead of their Easter Monday clash with Harare giants Dynamos after their Norton home Ngoni Stadium was given the nod to host the tie.

Ngoni Stadium has been undergoing a major upgrade since the end of last season when the team was still in the Northern Region Soccer League.

Following their failure to capture the automatic premiership ticket after narrowly missing out to Scottland FC, Mwos FC decided to renovate their home to meet topflight league standards before they get promotion.

But the ambitious side found themselves in the premier league following a partnership with South Region Soccer League champions ZPC Hwange and had to hasten the stadium upgrade.

Ngoni Stadium will be opened to the topflight league on Monday as Mwos FC host struggling DeMbare.

The debutants are the log leaders after six games following their 1-0 win over Herentals at Wadzanayi Stadium in Shamva on Sunday.

The team has 14 points from six matches after an unbeaten start comprising four wins and two draws.

Coach Lloyd Mutasa revealed the secret behind the team's early success in its maiden campaign.

“There is a lot of teamwork within the youngsters, defending from the top and fighting for each other, as well as the desire of wanting to get a good result,” he said after the Herentals game.

“Like I have always been saying, you don’t get easy games in the Premiership and this one was another tough encounter.

“But we are happy that from the few chances we managed to create today, we scored one goal which ultimately decided the game," he said.

Ngezi Platinum Stars are second with 13 points, while flamboyant newcomer Scottland are third with 11 points.
