THE Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC) has lifted the suspension on its director-general, Eltah Nengomasha, who was suspended on undisclosed grounds in October last year.
During Nengomasha’s suspension, Sebastian Garikai acted as the director-general.
Yesterday, SRC chairperson Gerald Mlotshwa announced Nengomasha’s return in a statement.
The SRC had initiated a disciplinary hearing before an independent tribunal, which led to Nengomasha’s acquittal.
“In its 21-page determination of March 11, 2025, the three-member tribunal acquitted and cleared the director-general of any wrongdoing,” Mlotshwa wrote.
Nengomasha resumes her duties with immediate effect, and will focus on restructuring the SRC’s human resources.
“Effectively, the suspension against the director general is lifted, and she will resume normal duties with the full confidence and support of the board,” Mlotshwa added.
