The Shumba totem bagged it's first Mutupo Isibongo golf tournament title following the final event of the series at the Royal Harare Golf Club on Friday last week.
It was the fifth edition of the competition sponsored by Lake Harvest, Surrey Group and Proton which seeks to promote culture and identity using the sport of golf.
In the 2024 edition of the Mutupo Isibongo golf tournament, the Shumbas won a couple of events which are part of the year long series where competition were played in almost all of the country's provinces.
This year the organisers managed to successfully stage the new diaspora edition which was held in Warwickshire, UK in July.
Tournament director, who is also the founder of the event, Ephraim Mashingaidze celebrated the success of the Mutupo Isibongo Golf tournament while revealing plans to introduce a schools competition next year.
"The Mutupo Isibingo brand grew in leaps and bounds in the 2024 edition with the hosting of the tournament on international fairways in Warwickshire, UK. We anticipate further growth with the introduction of the schools competition category in the 2025 calendar and beyond," he said.
"The brand has such a rich cultural heritage and educational content that we all agreed to engage the schools through this unique golf tournament brand. We believe the passing on of the Mutupo Isibongo cultural concept to the upcoming generations will greatly assist promote respect, peace and abstinance from drug abuse by the youth," Mashingaidze added.
The tournament director also confirmed that 22 took part in the tournament this year while the Mutupo Isibongo Golf 2025 United Kingdom edition to be played in Warwickshire is also confirmed.
In a bid to be more inclusive the tournament this year incorporated Zodiac signs as part of the the totems eligible to take part in the competition.
The Dziva totem made a strong challenge in the second half of the season and crossed the finishing line in second place, walking away with a silver medal.
The Moyos took home the bronze trophy and medals.
Royal Harare Golf Club hosting the Final as usual was in sparkling condition and the golfers started teeing off early in the morning as curtain came down for the 2024 Mutupo Isibongo golfing season anchored by the proud sponsors Lake Harvest, Surrey Group and Proton.
