ZIMBABWEAN boxer Peter Pambeni will be gunning for World Boxing Association African Championship when he takes on Namibian Flame Nangolo in a super featherweight title fight in Windhoek tomorrow.
Pambeni is a former World Boxing Organisation (WBO) African lightweight champion after he upset Namibian opponent Albinius Felesianu by a unanimous decision back in 2019.
The Shumba Boxing Academy pugilist boasts 18 career wins, while his opponent Nangolo remains undefeated in 11 professional fights.
Shumba Boxing Academy co-founder Wesley McDade is confident that Pandeni will upstage Nangolo in the 12-round championship bout.
“Shumba Boxing Academy is proud to announce that Peter Pambeni has been given the opportunity to fight for the WBA African title in Windhoek Namibia against a highly-rated Flame Nangolo this Saturday,” McDade said.
“As his management, we believe Peter has what it takes to win the fight because these are not uncharted territories as he won the WBO title on the same soil against Jeremia Nakathila in 2019.
“In this fight, Peter is the more experienced boxer with 18 wins over his opponent, who has 11. Peter has been performing well in training and is prepared for the fight. We have invested in him and expect he will do us and the nation proud with an upset to be crowned the new WBA Champion,” he said.
Bred in Epworth, Pambeni, a product of street boxing, popularly known as Wafa-Wafa stormed onto the local professional boxing scene in 2004 and he immediately became a national champion.
