Teenage golf prodigy Keegan Shutt is delighted after recording his second win of the year at the 2024 edition of the Chapman Grand Slam at Chapman Golf Club last weekend.
Shutt shot a brilliant final round 6 – under par 66 to finish on 8 - under par 208 for the tournament.
The budding golfer carded 72 70 and 66 in the two-day event which saw him enjoy a five-stroke advantage over Zambian golfer Patrick Chanda who managed 3 - under par 213 for the tournament.
Chanda had gone into the final day with a one shot lead over Shutt after carding 70 and 71 in the first 36 holes but could not keep up with the Zimbabwean on the final day where he managed level par.
It was only the second win for Shutt this year after he scooped the Royal Harare club championship in May.
"I am very happy because this is a tournament I have always wanted to win since I was very young. There have been a lot of very good players like Sean Crocker now on the PGA Tour, David Amm and Scott Vincent among others who have won it so I am very happy," he said after the win.
“It was very tough, especially the guy who came from Zambia, Patrick (Chanda) yesterday (Saturday) he gave me a good fight but today he didn’t play his best game. Today I was just hitting fairways and greens and yesterday I wasn’t playing but I was just hanging in there.
“Now I have to go write exams and soon I am going to play in the Zim Amateur which will also be here. I hope I will also do well,” Shutt said.

For Shutt it has been a good year of golf, the highlight being the Leopard Creek course record in South Africa at the inaugural Africa Amateur Championship back in February.
Shutt also helped Zimbabwe to second place finish at the All Africa Junior Golf Team Championship while he won the Royal Harare Club Championship.
Amm won, who has since turned professional, won the tournament last year.
The Grand Slam allowed female golfers to compete for the title for the first time this year and US-based Margaret Nyamukondiwa was
impressive after she tied for third place after grossing 222 for a 6 - over par final score along with 16 - year - old Mutare-based golfer Braydon Amm.
Nyamukondiwa carded 72 78 and 72 while Amm who is scheduled to fly the country's flag at the British Junior Open next week managed 74 77 and 71.
Kelvin Muchenje was first with a gross total 225 and was three shots ahead of young female golfer Miriam Masiya on 228 in sixth place while
another US-based lady golfer Danielle Bekker grossed 229 to tie for seventh.
A total of 74 players took part in the event.
Convener of the tournament Stephen Dzikiti was happy with how the event went.
"We are happy everything went well and there were no incidents to talk about. We had 74 players which is a good number for our golf and the young men and ladies who took part did very well. It used to be a men only event and this year we thought of bringing the ladies who would also compete with their male counterparts,"he said.
