WARRIORS’ striker Prince Dube is keeping his cards close to the chest after he successfully negotiated at exit from Tanzanian side Azam FC.
Dube bade farewell to the club abandoned supporters yesterday after the club allowed him to leave as he had requested.
Earlier in the week, Azam said in a press release that the former Highlanders striker had asked to leave the club with two years remaining on his contract remaining.
In a statement yesterday, Dube announced he was leaving the Tanzanian giants after four years with the club only indicating he was moving to a new chapter.
“It is with mixed emotions that I announce my departure from Azam FC. These four years have been an incredible journey, filled with challenges, victories and cherished memories. I want to express my deepest gratitude to everyone associated with the club, from the management to the coaching staff, my teammates, and most importantly, the fans,” Dube said.
He added: “As I move on to a new chapter in my career, I carry with me the lessons learned during my time at Azam FC the support I have received from the fans has been nothing short of amazing and I will forever cherish the memories we have created together.
I believe in the strength and potential of this club, and I have no doubt that it will continue to achieve great things. I wish Azam FC my teammates, the coaching staff and the fans all the success and happiness in the world. Thank you for the incredible journey.”
Confirming Dube’s intended departure, Azam FC spokesperson Thabiti said: “Azam FC confirms receiving a contract termination letter from Dube requesting that he wants to leave after joining the club in 2020.

He has submitted his letter to the management which has already responded…the contract he signed before the start of this season keeps him at the club until 2026. As such, until now, he has two and half years to parade at the club and the management has maintained that he can leave only if the terms of the contract are adhered to.”
It could not be ascertained if Dube had met his side of the deal to buy out the remainder of the contract, said to be valued at US$300 000.
