Kwekwe will be a centre of attraction this weekend, with a potentially thrilling Diamonds Volleyball tournament on the cards.
A total of 16 teams from both men and women have confirmed participation in the highly-anticipated tournament scheduled for Ziscosteel Sports Club between tomorrow and Sunday.
The tournament is hosted by Diamonds Volleyball Club and is the first of its kind to be staged in Kwekwe since the formation of the club in 2009.
Club secretary-general Rudo Charuma said the tournament's aim is meant to provide a platform for budding volleyball players to showcase their talent.
"We are going to host over 16 teams. So far 16 teams have confirmed that they are coming. We have sponsors who are already on board,"Charuma said.
"The main goal is to market our players. We want them to reach the national team level.
"For now we are proud because two of our members, Patricia Muzokomba and Jessica Makuyana are in the national team set-up.
"So we are expecting a big turnout and we are hopeful that our objectives will be achieved."
