Beyond the commandments

Some argue that the Ten Commandments were written by God and handed to Moses by God.

AFTER Israel refused to fellowship and commune with God opting to have Moses talk to God through the medium of angels, the Ten Commandments were instituted.

To regulate or administer the Ten Commandments, Moses came up with 603 regulations or statutes.

In total Israel had to follow 613 commandments.

While Israel was busy trying to keep the law and breaking it, Moses knew God and operated on a higher plane, Grace.

We prove in Exodus 33:13, “Now therefore, I pray thee, if I have found grace in thy sight, shew me now thy way, that I may know thee, that I may find grace in thy sight: and consider that this nation is thy people.”

Moses found grace in the sight of God. The rest of Israel opted for the law.

Some argue that the Ten Commandments were written by God and handed to Moses by God.

They further posit that Moses saw God in the burning bush. Let us cast light.

Acts 7:30 clarifies, “And when forty years were expired, there appeared to him in the wilderness of mount Sina an angel of the Lord in a flame of fire in a bush.”

An angel not God.

We furthermore read Acts 7:38, 53, “[38] This is he, that was in the church in the wilderness with the angel which spake to him in the mount Sina, and with our fathers: who received the lively oracles to give unto us: [53] Who have received the law by the disposition of angels, and have not kept it.”

Moses was not dealing one on one with God.

I have said on this platform before, it’s shooting yourself in the foot trying to preach using the Bible if you have not read it through uncountable times. Jesus is the face of God.

Take note of John 1:18, “No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.”

Jesus is the manifestation and declaration of God the Father.

Last year, a question was asked about keeping the Ten Commandments and the 603 regulations. If you want to keep the law, keep 613 without failure.

Scripture warns in James 2:10, Amplified, “For whoever keeps the whole Law but stumbles in one point, he has become guilty of [breaking] all of it.”

Let us buttress it with Galatians 3:10, New King James, “For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse; for it is written, ‘Cursed is everyone who does not continue in all things which are written in the book of the law, to do them’.”

I have a serious problem with Gentiles who are so eager and bend on keeping the laws given to the Jews.

If you are a Gentile and God wants to save you, He does that through the Gospel of Christ or the Grace of God.

He won’t ask you to convert to Judaism first.

Speaking of Gentiles, Jesus said in John 10:16, “And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.”

God’s foreknowledge had already provided for the salvation of the whole world.

Without trying to keep the law, Gentiles were saved in the early church as in Acts 11:18, “When they heard these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying, Then hath God also to the Gentiles granted repentance unto life.”

This is the umpteenth time I am stating that the Law was meant for Jesus.

We read Hebrews 10:7,9, “[7] Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God. [9] Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second.” This is Jesus.

This is a Messianic prophecy from Psalm 40:7-8, “[7] Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me, [8] I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart.”

Only Jesus had the wherewithal to obey the law to the dot. Turn to Jesus.

Jesus fulfilled the law according to Matthew 5:18, “For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.”

He then tells us the way of salvation or the path to God, John 14:6, “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”

Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen. Grace and peace be multiplied to you through knowledge.
