Lovebirds connive to steal double bed

Plumtree magistrate

TWO love birds appeared before a Plumtree magistrate facing charges unlawful entry into premises after they stole a bed from a house in the town.

The court heard that Tarisai Garai (45) and Bambanani Sibanda (43) have been dating for some time, even though the latter is married.

The two stunned the court after confirming that they stole a bed so that they can have a nice place to have quality time.

Magistrate Joshua Nembaware sentenced them to 30 months imprisonment of which six months imprisonment was suspended for a period of five years, leaving them to serve two years.

Prosecutor Selestine Madziwa told the court that sometime in October last year the complainant left Garai as caretaker at her house but did not give her keys.

Sometime in December, the duo broke into the house and stole a double bed.

The complainant made some inquiries and discovered that Garai had stolen the bed and she implicated her boyfriend.

A police report was filed leading to their arrest.
