Foundation to empower communities with skills

Phiri said the investment helped to create employment and improve the lives of people in the region.

A LOCAL eco-synergy foundation has launched an initiative to promote and empower communities by turning them into practicable consortiums.

Speaking during the launch of the Eco-Synergy Community Brand Foundation in Bulawayo this week, director Ganizani Phiri said the initiative would train communities to turn their skills into feasible businesses.

“Eco-Synergy Community Brand is more than a name — it is a promise, a mission and a movement. It stands as a bridge for beneficiaries of community training programmes, empowering them to transform their skills into viable enterprises,” he said.

“As we showcase their samples today, we are not merely celebrating products; we are celebrating resilience, determination and the boundless potential of our communities. A river is formed drop by drop and so too shall Bulawayo's industrial renaissance emerge through the collective efforts of its people.

“To the Bulawayo business community, I extend an earnest call to action. By sourcing your products locally, you are not simply making a business decision you are making an investment in the future of Bulawayo.”

Phiri said the investment helped to create employment and improve the lives of people in the region.

“Eco-Synergy Community Brand opens its doors wide to everyone, including those who have triumphed over personal challenges such as drug addiction,” he said.

“These survivors, now integral members of co-operatives, stand as living proof that when opportunity meets determination, lives can be transformed.

“As the proverb goes, ‘Smooth seas do not make skilful sailors’. Their journeys inspire us to embrace challenges and turn them into triumphs. A path is made by walking. Let us walk it with purpose, dignity and unity.”
