POLICE in Kezi are investigating a case of murder following the discovery of the body of an elderly man on the roadside in Matobo district.
Matabeleland South provincial police acting spokesperson Assistant Inspector Stanford Mguni identified the deceased as Morros Moyo (65).
“The now deceased, who was from Phathalika village under Chief Nyangazonke, had gone to Phathalika grounds to watch a game of soccer on February 23,” Mguni said.
“He was drinking alone and left the grounds at around 6pm. He then proceeded to Phathalika business centre, where he was joined by his two sons aged 44 and 47 who left Moyo at around 10pm.”
It is unknown what transpired thereafter.
“The now-deceased was found by an informant lying dead on the roadside near the business centre the following morning at around 2:30am with two stab wounds on the left thigh and on the elbow,” he said.
The body was taken to Tshelanyemba Hospital for post-mortem.
