Police launch manhunt for hit and run suspect

POLICE in Masvingo have launched a manhunt for a driver in connection with a hit and run incident that took place in the provincial capital on Monday this week.

The accident left a police officer nursing injuries.

According to a police statement, the motorist, who was driving a white Nissan AD Van vehicle registration number AFV 1597, hit the policeman who was controlling traffic along Robert Mugabe Way near Chevron Hotel.

“The police officer sustained a swollen heel and the driver did not stop after the accident,” the statement read.

Meanwhile, police in Kwekwe are investigating a fatal hit and run road traffic accident which occurred at a roundabout at along the Harare–Bulawayo Highway on December 31 last year.

“A male juvenile was killed while his mother was injured after being run over by the trailer of a haulage truck which was circling the roundabout,”a police statement read.

“The victims were standing in the traffic roundabout island when the incident occurred.”
