Local
It is alleged that Chisoro bought a pack of 20 Madison cigarettes and the suspect asked for one cigarette.  Chisoro refused.

A 38-year-old man from Shurugwi lost his life during a fight over a cigarette, police in Midlands confirmed.

Provincial spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko said the deceased was stabbed with a broken beer bottle.

"The incident occurred at Olymbia 53 mine bottle store, Shurugwi on September 30, 2024 at about 8pm," he said.

On the fateful day, the now deceased, identified as Promise Chisoro of Hidden Treasure, Shurugwi was drinking beer at Olymbia 53 Mine bottle store in the company of the suspect only known as Madhinda.

It is alleged that Chisoro bought a pack of 20 Madison cigarettes and the suspect asked for one cigarette.  Chisoro refused.

“This angered Madhinda who then grabbed a beer bottle, broke it and stabbed Chisoro on the upper left arm.

“He was rushed to Shurugwi District Hospital where he was pronounced dead upon arrival,” Mahoko said
