A-30-YEAR-OLD man from Cowdray Park high-density suburb in Bulawayo was recently arraigned before the courts facing a theft charge after he allegedly stole a tonne of gold ore.
Shepherd Mpakaidzwa was not asked to plead when he appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Maxwell Ncube on Friday last week.
He was granted US$100 bail and remanded to April 19 for trial.
Mpakaidzwa was ordered to reside at his given address and not to interfere with State witnesses until the finalisation of the matter.
The complainant in the matter is Star Mine represented by Mthulisi Moyo.
The court was told that on April 3 this year, Mpakaidzwa and his accomplices, who are still at large, stole one tonne of gold ore.
It is alleged that Mpakaidzwa was apprehended while driving a Mazda B1800 vehicle, which was loaded with the gold ore.
His accomplices jumped off the motor vehicle and fled during Mpakaidzwa’s arrest.
