The Mthwakazi Republic Party (MRP) has unveiled an interim leadership following the ouster of party leader Mqondisi Moyo.
MRP deputy secretary general Edmond Xakaxwayo said co-chairpersons Thembisile Mpofu and Chilumbu Mudenda will lead the party until the holding of an elective congress later this year. Xakaxwayo said Moyo was removed following charges of toxic politics and personalising the among others.
“The members of the national executive committee, most of whom are based in South Africa, displayed the same arrogance and lack of direction,” he said.
“This total lack of respect and disdain for party structures ultimately led to the decision to remove the cancer that threatened to destroy the party.
“The dissolution of Moyo's national executive was the first step towards achieving that goal.”
Xakaxwayo said Khethiwe Bhebhe is the interim secretary general while Bembethe Khumalo will head the finance department, Ngqabutho Mpofu (organising secretary) and Mbonisi Gumbo (information and publicity officer).
