Teen kills friend over music

Mayenzewe Sibanda appeared before Plumtree magistrate Joshua Nembaware on Friday and was not asked to plead to a murder charge. He was remanded in custody to September 18.

A 19-YEAR-OLD Plumtree man fatally stabbed his friend last week following an argument over music.

Mayenzewe Sibanda appeared before Plumtree magistrate Joshua Nembaware on Friday and was not asked to plead to a murder charge. He was remanded in custody to September 18.

The State, led by Voster Makuwerere, alleged that on August 31, the suspect was walking with the now deceased, Ntando Nkomo and two others.

They argued about who played better music between two bands Insimbi zeZhwane and Matonga.

The accused was in favour of Insimbi zeZhwane band which he said was miles ahead of Matonga band, which led to a heated argument.

They fought and were restrained by their colleagues, but Sibanda pulled an Okapi knife and stabbed Nkomo on the thigh.

Nkomo was taken to a local clinic where he was referred to Plumtree District Hospital. He passed away a day after being admitted to the hospital.
