THERE is concern over the low response to the free paediatric screening for children under 11 years in Bulawayo.
The services are being offered at the Qorax Vision Centre situated in Ascot.
The centre has been offering free paediatric screening for children every Friday since January, but authorities expressed concern over the low turnout.
Qorax Vision senior representative, Farai Zinyembe, said the services are aimed at ensuring access to health care services especially for the poor.
"However, people who usually come here for paediatric screening since this programme started are those from the surrounding areas near Ascot and these people usually can afford to pay for these services,” Zinyenmbe said.
“We hope that this programme reaches people from different locations in Bulawayo."
"We hope to get partnerships with other institutions so that by next year we shift from making this event a Friday event but a daily programme.”
Previously, the institute managed to work with a few primary schools in Bulawayo.
