THE National Social Security Authority (Nssa) has announced its annual life certificate renewal exercise and urged pensioners to physically verify their status.
The exercise started running on Monday August 4 and will end on October 31.
“Pensioners should come to Nssa in person with the original and a copy of their national identity card or a valid passport. A driver’s licence will not be accepted as proof of identity,” Nssa said in a statement.
“For those too ill to travel, bedridden or grossly disabled, pensioners will be visited by Nssa officers in their respective homes, provided they submit their contact addresses and mobile numbers to the nearest Nssa office.”
In order to widen access, Nssa said its officers would be at POSB, NBS and ZimPost outlets during pension paydays and business centres and growth points will be covered on dates to be advised.
Pensioners residing abroad can comply with the life certificate renewal requirement by downloading the diaspora life certificate form from the Nssa website.
Failure to comply will result in suspension of pension benefits.
A Life Certificate is a document issued by Nssa to pensioners in Zimbabwe, verifying that they are still alive and entitled to continue receiving pension payments.
