Valley Seeds primed for 2025/26 planting season

Company officials said 60% of the seeds have already been delivered and the remainder expected to be in well before the beginning of the planting season.

ZIMBABWE’s premier seed house, Valley Seeds, has announced readiness for the upcoming 2025-2026 farming season with seeds earmarked for the Presidential Input scheme already in stock.

Company officials said 60% of the seeds have already been delivered and the remainder expected to be in well before the beginning of the planting season.

This will ensure that farmers have access to high-quality planting.

Managing Director, Aluis Chareka, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to providing the best seeds for the nation during a media tour.

"We are fully prepared to meet the demands of our farmers and contribute to the agricultural advancement of our country,” he said.

“We have an excellent relationship with our stakeholders, the Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water And Rural Development and the Ministry of Finance and Investment Promotion who continue to support our operations.

“In addition to our readiness for the season, we are expanding our infrastructure. A new storage shed is currently under construction at our Juru Manufacturing Plant to enhance our storage capabilities.”

Valley Seeds recently commissioned a state-of-the-art traditional grains processing plant in Ruwa.

Furthermore, the seed producer is actively working to strengthen the seed value chain through the development of an oil and stock feed manufacturing plant in Ruwa.

Commercial Director, Tich Maponga, also emphasized the company's preparedness to meet local market demands.

“This seed is specifically produced for the local market. We are also focusing on increasing the production of vegetable seeds to support the country’s horticultural trajectory,” Maponga stated.

Valley Seeds supplies maize, sorghum, sugar bean, soya bean, sunflower seeds as well as traditional grains that includes sorghum, groundnuts, millet, and cowpeas.

The company also supplies herbicides, knapsacks and fall armyworm chemicals.

“We are proud of our innovative production facilities, and a robust delivery network. This ensures farmers get top-quality products, setting the industry standard for excellence,” Maponga said.

“With over 30 years of experience collaborating closely with farmers across Zimbabwe, we have gained a deep understanding of the country's climate and supply seeds that are suitable for the different ecological zones. We have expertly tailored solutions for local farmers.”

Valley Seeds boasts of a highly professional team geared to engaging with key agricultural stakeholders. We are committed to continuously sourcing products that meet the unique needs of the Zimbabwean market.

Valley Seeds is also the proud owner of Southern Cotton Private Limited, further expanding our commitment to the agricultural sector.
