According to a statement posted by the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) on X (formerly Twitter), Bandawe allegedly murdered Hilda Drawu (59) following a domestic dispute.
“The suspect stabbed the victim several times on the neck with a kitchen knife before hiding the body under the bed and locking the bedroom door,” the police said, adding that he then turned on his niece before fleeing the scene.
The injured minor was rushed to Sally Mugabe Central Hospital for treatment while authorities launched a manhunt and later apprehended the suspect in the same neighbourhood.
