YOUTH Empowerment, Development and Vocational Training minister, Tinoda Machakaire, yesterday announced 13 of the 15-member Zimbabwe Youth Council (ZYC) board to facilitate youth empowerment.
Addressing a Press conference in the capital, Machakaire said ZYC was an important arm of the government which ensured youth participation in national processes.
The announcement was made in terms of the Zimbabwe Youth Council Act. Rutendo Mugwagwa, a lawyer, chairs the board.
Other members of ZYC board include Hazel Mandaza, Unathi Nyoni, Macintosh Manonose, Victor Mupunga, Acknowledge Mawere, Blessing Ndlovu, Thubelihle Nyoni,Talent Kadaira, Munyaradzi Chauruka, Thabani Shonhai, Yolanda Mungwari and Tinashe Ngirande.
“The remaining two members shall be females one of whom shall be from Mashonaland West Province,” Machakaire said. “The announcement will be made in due course.” He said the board would undertake projects designed to create employment for young people.
“This board will enhance our efforts in promoting youth participation, economic empowerment and leadership development across the nation,” he said.
The new board replaces the one appointed in 2021 whose tenure expired.
ZYC is a corporate body, established by an Act of Parliament, the Zimbabwe Youth Council Act, as amended in1997.
