Arson brothers on the run

Midlands provincial police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko yesterday confirmed the incident, which occurred this Wednesday.

TWO Mberengwa brothers set fire to two huts belonging to their neighbours after accusing them of killing their relative.

Midlands provincial police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko yesterday confirmed the incident, which occurred this Wednesday.

“Two huts were set on fire by two brothers, whose relative was allegedly murdered by one of the owners of the burnt huts. The incident occurred on November 20 at Village 3B, Greenspan area under Chief Bvute in Mberengwa,” Mahoko said.

He said the suspects, Jabulani Mazani and Kudakwashe Moyo, both of Village 3B in Mberengwa accused Oneday Mlilo (26) and Clere Mlilo (28) of killing their relative before they went on to burn the latter’s two huts to ashes.

“It is alleged that the two suspects teamed up and approached Oneday shouting that they wanted to avenge the murder of their relative (allegedly) by Clere,” he said.

He said Oneday fled from the scene before the two siblings allegedly set his hut on fire.

Mahoko said the duo proceeded to torch Clere’s hut before fleeing from the scene.

Property worth US$930 was allegedly destroyed in the inferno.

Mahoko appealed to anyone with information on the whereabouts of Mazani and Moyo to report to the nearest police station.
