Bulawayo police crack down on Entumbane drug syndicate

Addressing a Press conference in Bulawayo on Wednesday, police acting provincial spokesperson Assistant Inspector Nomalanga Msebele said the gang was selling illegal drugs in and around Entumbane. She said the gang was arrested on February 14 this year.

POLICE in Bulawayo have arrested a nine-member gang in Entumbane high-density suburb amid concerns over a marked increase in illegal drug trade involving minors in the area.

Addressing a Press conference in Bulawayo on Wednesday, police acting provincial spokesperson Assistant Inspector Nomalanga Msebele said the gang was selling illegal drugs in and around Entumbane. She said the gang was arrested on February 14 this year.

“In that gang, there is a male adult, Elton Ndlove aged 24, who is spreading information in the community that police fear him and they cannot do anything to him,” she said.

“I want to set the record straight, there is no one who is above the law.”

Msebele revealed that the Criminal Investigation Department in Bulawayo arrested six other people who were found in possession of or smoking drugs.

“We also raided again, today (on Wednesday) in the central business district. There are lots of people who are selling drugs like weed, crystal meth and cocaine,” she said.

“We thank the public for the information they are giving us, continue doing that. Entumbane residents have already started, they are saying no to drugs.”

Msebele added that police would act on every tip-off they received.

In another incident during the raids, police arrested a woman who was hosting a Vuzu party for minors.

The minors were from various schools in Bulawayo, including Nkulumane Primary School and Foundation College.

Msebele urged parents to monitor their children’s activities.
